Supposedly they’ve been talking trilogy. Not necessarily following Wesley through two more adventures, but just doing two other movies set in the same universe, possibly including a prequel.
Don’t forget that Hancock comes out this week as well.
Oh and I saw Wall-e and I really liked it. A very sweet movie that isn’t at all over the top in the humor like Kung-fu Panda seemed to be. And for whatever political undertones people want to apply to that movie they just really seem to overstate it and see exactly what they want to see in it. I’d actually like to see what your thoughts are on it jim.
buzzion: I am starting to REALLY want to see WALL-E. Every Tuesday is $5 night at the theater we like. I may have to talk Donna into a “cheap night” showing of it one of these coming Tuesday nights.
I almost want to skip Hancock and see WALL-E instead this week. I’m hearing TERRIBLE things about Hancock.

I hear ya. I want it to be good because I like Will Smith in action movies, but the early reviews sound like it’s bad in way that I won’t enjoy… and I can enjoy a bad movie with the best of them.
You mean Will Smith has made a bad movie? I refuse to believe this. I simply refuse.
BTW, Wanted looks awesome and I’m really looking forward to seeing it on the big screen.
Wanted did put up a little over $50 million it seems. However Wall-e went and put up about $62 million. Its kind of funny that what you have are two extremes raking in the cash. A G-rated and an R-rated movie.
Prediction for the 4th of July Weekend. Hancock #1 but just barely. Wall-e #2, and Wanted #3 with wanted seeing a more significant drop than Wall-e does.
buzzion: I second that prediction, although I wouldn’t be *totally* shocked if Wall-E somehow beat Hancock. A little surprised, but not shocked. I can’t remember the last time I saw so much good word of mouth on a movie.
*grumble*
Alright, alright… you win. Since Hancock opened early we have a free Tuesday next week. Maybe we can see it then.

Saw wanted today at theaters, but saw it two days ago…somewhere else *wink*.
I want the keyboard scene as my wallpaper but i have yet to find a copy of it.
As for sequal, i think they shouldn’t continue with him, unless they have a very good idea. and i mean VERY GOOD.
for being based on a comic where superheros have been written out of existence and supervillians have secretly taken control of the world, i say its a wicked adaptation. enough so that my intrest has been peaked and im going to take a look at the “Wanted” comic miniseries.

JimK: Wanted has had a pretty damn good weekend. Estimates were that it would earn around $35 mil, and it actually made $51,118,000 as of the timestamp on this post. It’s easily going to make back the $65-75 mil budget plus marketing, IMHO. Eventually. It does come up against some big, big players over the next month. Hell, this coming week WALL-E will be pulling them in on word of mouth and critical acclaim. Plus…The Dark Knight. Game over when that comes out. I do think Wanted will clean up on DVD. It seems tailor-made for a good home theater. Pack on another $20 million or so for the international markets. Wanted will do well.
It also gets a few kudos.
- Best June opening for an R-rated movie
- 6th highest rated R opening of all time (3rd if you only count action films)
- Best opening by Angelina Jolie in a live-action film
Not bad. Certainly good enough to talk sequel.
