its a double edged sword tho;ill probably see wanted because im not into seeing wall-e - but ive also seen nightwatch and daywatch and have the feeling that timor only knows how to make that kind of movie.
ive also read reviews and know that the movie is not really faithful to the graphic novel [no supervillains, world devoid of heroes backstory] and thats only about 20 minutes worth of the script is from the graphic novel. so im sure they have to try to get as many people into seeing it with ooh neat visuals.
this is why i respect what people like warner do with the dark knight - they created additional footage for the net and viral games and websites that add to the movie experience and dont take away from it. even the harvey dent footage that showed up online was stuff that was previously wizard world chicago exclusive last year but they kept it under wraps since and now its new again.
I haven’t seen half of these clips from Wanted, but what I have seen hasn’t really given me much of a push to go see it in the theater - I think my movie money for the rest of the year is tied up in Dark Knight and Clone Wars, besides - but it just doesn’t scream theater movie to me.
But it’ll probably be a pretty decent rental. And since most DVD turnaround is at or near 4 months, I can wait that long.

JimK: I’m torn about all this embeddable video for Wanted. I want people to see the movie, as I love the stars in it, the graphic novel and the director. As soon as I saw Nightwatch I knew this guy - visually, at least - had something interesting. I want to help get people excited to see the movie, and I want it to have a decent showing at the box office. That may be a moot point, considering the competition it is about to face, but…I’d like to see it do well.
The question is, does dumping all this video on the web really help? I mean, all told there must be a good five minutes of the meat of the film cut up into various trailers, extended scene previews and so forth. At what point do you start to feel that you’ve already watched everything worth watching? What’s the tipping point? Since it’s already out there, I may as well embed it all, but my point to Hollywood is this; If you want a thing to feel fresh while still exciting me about it, you have to tease me with an awesome moment or two…not the gist of most of the hot sequences. Just run the ads with subtle variations. I really don’t think you need all new clips over and over again to generate interest.
Anyway, here is a massive amount of video on Wanted, including previously posted stuff like the red band and Russian trailers.(ed. note: Most of the video was from Hulu and has since expired - which is annoying - so I pulled the code.) They have about a week to grab as much box office as they can, so go see it before The Dark Knight comes out and crushes it beyond all recognition.Interview - Angelina Jolie
