You already know I agree with you about all the other trailers so I’m just going to talk about the one trailer I *hadn’t* seen yet… Choke. First off, I read the book. And HATED IT. With a passion. After coming off of his one and only truly successful book “Survivor”, reading “Choke” was such a huge let down and the beginning of the end for Chuck. Just bad. On every level.
The movie looks to be just about as bad as the book. Then again, I don’t know - they took “Fight Club”, which as a book was really only mediocre, and made it into my favorite movie of all time. Maybe they managed to excise the essence of “Choke” and make it into a quirky, funny, oddball movie that will subvert the crap in the book and actually be funny. Hey, it could happen.
I nearly came went I saw the trailer for The Terminator in the theater last night. WANT. NOW.
That trailer for the Terminator makes me all kinds of hopeful. If they keep to the feeling I get from that it could be a great movie. Though I’ve got to say I’m surprised there wasn’t a single comment from Emily about it. ;p
Jim has been shutting me down a lot lately. I think he doesn’t want me to see that he’s celebrating a <strike>documentary</strike> movie about my family’s destruction.
THE MACHINES SHALL RISE. JOHN CONNOR IS RIGHT, YOU CANNOT WIN THIS WAR.
*/We shall overcome, we shall overcome/*
Hey, if humanity has to be subjugated by a race of machines I’ve got nooo problems with Emily being in charge.
Is Em’s terminator body as hot as Summer Glau’s? If it is, I welcome our new hot Robot masters.
Loved TS, and like Donna, WANT NOW. “Choke”? WTF I’m with Jim on both “Spirit” (again WTF. Its not even close to the masterful Comic series. Miller is focken nuts) and “Watchmen” (MUST SEE NOW. Roarchak looks amazing, but I don’t see how they can get the whole story in a 2 hour movie)
The only one you seem to be missing is the “Villains” trailer for Heroes 3.0. Mrs. P is even more creepy than Silar.
The only real problem I had is with Rorshac’s voice-it didn’t sound right. But that scene with Dr. Manhattan and the Comedian in Vietnam-straight out of the graphic novel. That gives me hope.
i bought CHOKE as I waited to board a plane and i read it as I flew. HATED IT.
Interesting that they are focused on the sexual part and no mention of the ‘choke for attention’ aspect of him… especially considering the title of the book/film is ... CHOKE

JimK: OK, rather than make individual posts for these trailers I’ve collected over the past week, I’m just going to throw ‘em all in here.
First up: the red band trailer for the Chuck “I’m too clever for my own good” Palahniuk-based Choke. WARNING: NSFW. Contains actual naked boobs. Sorry that it’s squished but there’s only *one* redband file out there and it’s messed up. It’s been taken down *everywhere*. No matter what I try to do to it it stays squished. To hell with it.
Not looking forward to that at all, sirs and madams. Not at all. I’m not liking the wannabe Savage Steve Holland meets Abraham/Zucker meets Seth Rogen meets Cinemax vibe at all.
Next, Leonardo DiCaprio and Russel Crowe reunite for Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies.
Not to get too political here, but here’s why I’m into this movie; It’s a Middle East/Iraq thing (the bulk of the story takes place in Jordan, I believe), but it seems like it’s just telling me a story, not selling me a pre-determined political agenda. It looks like everyone involved in this story is a big fat liar and things go to hell for that reason, not because one side or another is inherently evil. I don’t get the same vibe off of this that I get from the posse of recent Middle East-based war movies. Plus, Ridley Scott. he does tense action well. Leo can act his balls off, and Russel Crowe can be awesome if he’s not phoning it in. I’m digging this.
Next, the Terminator: Salvation teaser.
Loving. This. I fear McG, but maybe, just maybe he gets it and did this right. The look feels right, the vibe is good, It really seems to work. The music still gets me right there (I use that riff as my laptop’s startup and shutdown sound, so yeah, fanboy). I even like the the distortion and digital macroblocking. In the old days, and old Terminators, that kind of thing was always static and lines and wavy distortion, but this is what digital video looks like when you screw it up on a computer. Nicely done. I may have to congratulate McG if the stuff we hear and see maintains this level of quality. This airs before The Dark Knight, and in a 100% packed theater, this trailer got the biggest cheers and applause of anything but TDK itself.
Next we have Frank Miller’s The Spirit.
What. Fucking. Ever. I think Frank just lost me. I seriously cannot see spending good movie to watch this. Hopefully the next trailer will, I dunno, feature the eponymous center of the film? Unless The Spirit is really about Scarlett Johansson’s tits or something. In which case Miller needs to change it to The Tits and make sure he hires lots of bodyguards to protect him from fans of the graphic novel. Maybe they should change the URL for the official site to myfanbasescreams.com.
And speaking of graphic novels, last but not least is The Watchmen.
I think I just had a geek-gasm. Visually, this movie is just so right. The promises by everyone that it’s faithful to the books could mean the story is right too. Unfortunately for fans, we know how it ends. In a way I wish I didn’t know anything, because I suspect this is going to be one hell of a movie. Here’s what I suggest if you have never read The Watchmen. Just read Cinematical’s “The Beginner’s Guide to The Watchmen Trailer” post. Don’t seek out the graphic novels until after you see the film. I think it will be better that way.
OK, that’s the trailer park finished. Time to write about The Dark Knight.
