The top twelve on SYTYCD really went all out this week. It really is make or break time for them, as only the top ten dancers go on the national tour. It’s clear the strain was getting to some - Comfort and Thayne just couldn’t get it together, and I felt horrible for Jessica and Will when they screwed up their quick step so badly. However, there were definitely some standout routines, and one stood out far and away above the rest.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you MOA’s the So You Think You Can Dance “Awesome Dance of the Week”. This week’s honors go to Jessica and Will for their work in the “Garden of Eden” contemporary routine choreographed by Tyce Diorio to the song “Silence” from the Unfaithful soundtrack:

I can’t get over how breathtaking that routine was. I agree with the panel - watching it was like watching a moving piece of art. Every movement was incredibly articulated, strong and graceful. Both Jessica and Will shined in this intense and highly difficult routine, and I have to give HUGE props to Tyce Diorio for choreographing something so daring and having the balls to do it to such an odd and often silent piece of music. Bravo, Jessica and Will - you definitely had the most Awesome Dance of the Week.

I have to single out two other dances that I thought were also quite extraordinary - let’s call them Honorable Mentions. The first Honorable Mention goes to Chelsie and Mark who conquered a Broadway routine also choreographed by Tyce Diorio to “I’m a Woman” from the musical Smoky Joe’s Cafe:

How dead sexy was Chelsie in that? DAMN girl! I love this couple and I think both of them are going to go quite far. My second Honorable Mention has to go to Kherington and Twitch for their amazing work in a krump routine choreographed by Lil’C to “2 Buck 4 TV” by Tha J-Squad:

Twitch OWNED that stage, and I was seriously impressed by Kherington for her work as well, even though she did run out of energy at the end. These two are still my favorite couple.

I won’t try and predict the bottom three couples, but I will predict one thing: both Comfort and Thayne are going home tonight. Neither one of them can seem to get it together and they just don’t have the chops that the other dancers have. It’s too bad - I liked Comfort and was rooting for her, but she just never gelled.
