Ted Allen will host Food Detectives

By JimK

JimK:  I really love the idea of this show.

Food Network has announced Food Detectives, a new reality series hosted by former Queer Eye food and wine specialist and current Top Chef judge Ted Allen as he explores the connection between science and food, will premiere Tuesday, July 29 at 9PM ET/PT.

Each half-hour Food Detectives’ episode will follow Allen, who with the help of culinary technicians and leading experts from Popular Science magazine, will conduct experiments to debunk myths that run rampant in the food world.

Love cooking, love food, love Mythbusters.  I like Ted Allen on Iron Chef America.  Seems like it can’t miss.  Hopefully it’ll as good in production as it sounds on paper.

I’m with you on this one. Ted Allen is my favorite Iron Chef America judge so I already respect his opinion and knowledge. And to add a Mythbusters element? Coolness.

I have such a secret crush on Adam on Mythbusters... *blushes*

One of the things I’ve always said that would make Iron Chef ten times as awesome as it already is would be if they’d have a mostly static panel of judges consisting of Ted, Jeffrey, and that one woman that often gets paired with them (forget her name). They’re like the American Idol panel, except, y’know, not sucky.

That one guy who’s supposed to be a super-eligible bachelor is okay as filler, and one or two of the others, but that one super-annoying comedian guy who’s twiggy and has the glasses, whose name I don’t remember not because I can’t but because I don’t care to? He’s not actually a food critic, he’s not actually FUNNY, why the fuck does Iron Chef subject me to him?

(Well, they subject me to him because he’s the most famous guy they can get on there, but fuck that.)

Top Chef is amazing, but I am huge fan of Iron Chef. Have you ever tried to watch the Japanese version of the show.  It sucks worse than American Idol, but the American version rocks.  I have been addicted to all the cooking shows lately and am amazed by the creations they come up with.  Did anyone see where they made a custard inside of a dog bone, WTF.
