Last week I missed the show because of our Team Pot Luck for the Breast Cancer 3 day walk.
This week I missed it simply because I forgot. I missed Castle to so you can imagine my disappointment. I’ll blame it on the Percocet that knocked me on my ass but in reality, I didn’t take the Percocet until later. DOH!
And, since I seemed to have missed it, who went home last week??
Last week it was Peter (the last tapper) and Pauline who went home.
As for this week, I called the bottom three dead on - it was Karen/Kevin, Channing/Victor and Mollee/Nathan. Mollee KILLED her solo - it was honestly spectacular and she earned the right to be here another week. Nathan’s solo was also outstanding and I think he earned another week as well. In the end it was Kevin and Channing who went home tonight, which I totally agree with. I’m glad they gave Karen another week - this was the outcome I was hoping for.
You missed Castle? For shame! I do so love that show.

DonnaK: Compared to the hot mess that was last week’s performance show, So You Think You Can Dance was in fine form this week. I think it’s becoming clearer and clearer who should be in the Top 10 and who shouldn’t be. Of course, that doesn’t mean the votes will go the way of the talent - this *is* America’s FAVORITE dancer, but here’s to hoping that the best people make it through.
We started the night with a classic Nappy Tabs hip hop routine by Ashleigh and Jacob. Has anyone else noticed that these two have always been either the first or second couple to dance on every show? Strange, that. I hate to say it but Ashleigh is growing on me. She hit hard and gave a very respectable performance - I may have to change my mind about her. Jacob was fantastic as usual and the pair got high marks all around.
Karen and Kevin were up next with a Spencer Liff Broadway routine. From the beginning I could smell “bottom three” on them once again. This number didn’t do much for me or the judges. They danced it fairly, but there was no spark or energy. I think Kevin’s time with us may be over, perhaps Karen as well.
Noelle and Russell danced next with their second fox trot of the season. VERY odd luck-of-the-draw there, but Russell proved himself more than capable as he has clearly grown leaps and bounds from the first show. He and Noelle were dazzling and Russell is definitely shaping up to be one of the front runners with both the judges and the audience.
Channing and Victor were next with a hot mess of a jazz piece by Tyce Diorio. I’m sorry, Tyce… but WTF were you smoking when you choreographed this? It was right out of an acid trip - Channing and Victor had to be two blackbirds with this bizarre, nonsensical musical accompaniment. Channing and Victor gave it their all, but the weirdness of the piece will bottom three them for sure. Add in to this the fact that neither of these two are growing at the rate that others in the competition are and I think their days are numbered.
Kathryn and Legacy danced a Tony Meredith paso double next and simply wowed the hell out of me. I was on the fence about Legacy at the beginning of the season. I didn’t think he had the chops or the stamina to make it beyond week two. Boy am I eating my words! Legacy is growing by leaps and bounds faster than anyone in SYTYCD history. There really doesn’t seem to be a limit to what he is capable of learning or dancing… and this guy has no professional training! I am personally amazed by Legacy and I really hope he makes it to the Final Four. I love Kathryn as well and I think both of them will see the Top 10 easily.
Ellenore and Ryan dominated the show next with a Travis Wall contemporary number and the first truly awesome dance of the season. I’m with Adam Shankman on this - this was the first moment this season where I just sat back and said “WOW”. Ellenore and Ryan are easily Top Ten bound and the winners this week of the Awesome Dance of the Week Award. A truly outstanding performance across the board from these two.
Nathan and Mollee closed the show with an average pop jazz number by Laurieann Gibson. I’m sorry, but Mollee is simply not good enough to be here. She doesn’t possess the skill or maturity for this competition and she’s only here because Nathan apparently makes the teenage girls gooey in their panties. For me this was the third bottom three performance of the night, but we’ll just have to see whose fans are stronger on the phones.
By my math Karen and Kevin as well as Channing and Victor have a lock on two of the bottom three spots. I think the strength of Ashleigh and Jacob and Ellenore and Ryan’s routine will catapult them into safety. That means the last spot in the bottom three with go to either Mollee and Nathan or Noelle and Russell, and this will simply come down to whose fan base cranks out more votes. No matter who takes the third spot I think Karen and Kevin are the likely pair to go home as neither of them is showing the kind of growth we’re seeing in other couples.
So there’s my call… have a different opinion? Let’s hear it!
