Pay attention, Fox
I’m actually watching, for the first time, the new BSG. I started from the miniseries a week ago and I’ve been doing at least an episode every day. I did the same thing with Lost last year. After that I plan on catching up on all the episodes in the british version of The Office.
Where Tv schedules let me down, bittorrent saves my ass from boredom.
Jim..you’re right…Burn Notice (and Bruce) rules. I was looking forward to The Shield until i realized it wasn’t coming back till the fall. The Mole is back on ABC and if it’s close to what it was then it’s all good. I’m gonna be spending part of this summer catching up on shows like Reaper or Smallville that are currently clogging up my Tivo. I can’t handle another summer full of ‘reality’ shows
Weeds comes back on June 16. Haven’t read anything about Big Love so I don’t know if it’s returning or not.
I also have an ongoing marathon of all Star Trek series that I’m trying to finish by year’s end. Should start season 5 of DS9 in the next couple of days. Maybe finish season 7 by mid-June. Leaves 7 seasons of Voyager and 5 of Enterprise.
what are you watching while you wait for more Battlestar Galactica?
Trick question, since the only reason I’d wait for more Battlestar Galactica is if they promised that this season, the entire universe would explode on the show, killing the entire cast. Permanently. And I hope to god that Knight Rider doesn’t take any cues from it, or KITT will wind up sneering “Well he shouldn’t have been in the road, stupid frellackfrood” as he runs over baby deer.
If I wanna leave the TV on in the background and give it some attention, I mostly leave it on the Food Network. (Oh, Alton, someday we’ll be together.) I’ve got a ton of series backlogged to watch, some of it bought fairly cheap on DVD, some downloaded. A couple of Japanese live action hero series, Excel Saga, Grenadier, the full set of Slayers OAVs, and oh, the old Dungeons & Dragons cartoon, which has actually held up surprisingly well. The writing is overall cheesy as hell and not too good, but the animation’s a lot better than you’d expect.
There is like nothing on now that I can think to want to watch, other than BSG and Doctor Who.
For awhile I had a show almost every night with big bang theory, south park, and I got into this season of smallville, but all those shows are done for the season, so I might just be keeping on some movie channels when I have the tv on.
I just finished (like a 1/2 hour ago) running through SG-1 from scratch over the last couple weeks.
I love getting that drawn into a series by watching eps back to back with practically nothing else mixed in.

JimK: With so many seasons ended or coming to an end this week, what are you watching while you wait for more Battlestar Galactica? I’m looking forward to the start of Burn Notice. It’s a fun show. It features Bruce Campbell. There are spies and guns and car chases, and it’s Miami without the stupid CSI filter. What’s not to love?
I’m also re-watching an episode here and there of the original Battlestar Galactica. Yes, it’s cheesy. A lot of things were. Hell, a lot of things still are. The dialogue can be painful, especially the stuff between Richard Hatch’s Apollo and Boxy. It’s not entirely terrible though. You can also see much of the inspiration for the new version woven throughout. What it really illustrates though, is how frigging great the new BSG is even when it’s a bit slow and weak. It;s really, really great television, and a prime example of what you can do when “re-imagining” an old property.
You hear me, Knight Rider producers and writers? You paying attention? You bastards.
I should totally download some old Knight Rider.
So, what will you use to fill the void between seasons? And if anyone says “Go outside” I will kick you in the nards. The daystar is our enemy.
