TV?...I’m sure I’m missing something there.
Chuck.
I’m WAY behind video game-wise,
Spore comes out in a few days. I might need to spend my weekend making more creatures.
As for books and movies? Meh nothing interesting me for movies. Books I’m finishing up that last Legacy of the Force arc novel in Star Wars, and I believe another EU book will be out soon. For whatever reason I don’t get into the Prequel era books, with the exception of Outbound Flight which let’s face it is not truly Prequel era.
Otherwise HEROES!! I bought the Season 2 dvd and it has an alternate ending that I will get to see. I’ve only watched disk one so far. And despite Nathan being the Wolfman its still a good show.
For me, it’s mostly music-related. There are soooooo many things I’m looking forward to, but the soonest one and the one I’m amped about is Avenged Sevenfold’s Live at Long Beach California DVD coming out on the 16th. That was one AWESOME concert. I’m excited to see how the professionals captured it…
I heard Too Human was one of those, “doesn’t live up to its potential” games. *shrug*
I WAS excited for The Force Unleashed, but after playing the demo I cancelled my preorder. The game just felt bland. After the prequels and Special edition garbage, I can’t get excited about a Starwars, um, anything. -.-’
I am excited for Little Big Planet and Fallout 3. Resistance 2 looks like it could be fun. Street Fighter IV is too far down the line to really feel the crave.
I want to watch House, Heroes, and Supernatural. Nothing else, really. ^.^’
I am not looking forward to any of the games that I have seen buzz for. I dunno games haven’t been my thing lately.
On the small screen I am looking forward to The Shield mostly, but also really enjoyed how Sons of Anarchy has started (wow a TV show that isn’t about a doctor lawyer or cop! Also I wish I had a mom like Katie Segals’ character) also I am looking forward to see how Joss Whedon will take yet another horribly dumb premise and turn it into an amazing story with a new army of fanboys.
On the big screen honestly it all seems to be dead space till Watchmen comes out, tho having reread the series months ago when I first heard the buzz I have to admit it was a far different story than I 15 year old me read half a life time ago so I wonder how the movie will translate.
Finally Bacon ... I am really looking forward to trying new and amazing styles of bacon.
Final Fantasy XIII. Supposedly a return to the old feel and general sense of FF7, with the same team that worked on it. Think they’re aiming for the Christmas season with that one.
Oh, also, Dexter returns this month.
Not sure. I do know they’re getting ready to release yet another new version of Advent Children with another thirty minutes of footage, and a playable demo of XIII, so.
My radar needs adjusting..
But I’m looking forward to Wrath of the Lich King, tangentially I managed to secure tickets to Blizzcon. But more of my favorite MMO is on the horizon as we speak. GT = Stoked!
Little Big Planet will surely suck up a lot of my time too. I’m looking forward to parodying levels of some old side scrolling dungeon craw game I played back in the day with it.
I’m cautiously in anticipation of Spore as well. The conceit is great and the execution looks good, it’ll all come out soon .
I have been at turns excited, disappointed and frustrated with he advent of Warhammer Online. I’ve now decided to see if it survives a year of MMO shakedown before diving in.
I’m a Final Fantasy nut and am looking forward to it, but it’s a long way off so my radar pings only a little. It’s a fervent ping though.
Oooh.. Dexter my favorite bad/good guy. Looking forward to more of that show.. hopfully they insist don’t on finding way to fit in more of his sister [did that come off as catty?]. I don’t hate the character I just found myself fast forwarding though all of her bits in the show last season, I just could bring myself to give a rat’s ass.
*Radar power ACTIVATE*
Movies: Watchmen is high up on my radar as is the progress of Where The Wild Things Are.
TV: Heroes is next on tap for me and the SO is all excited about Legend of the Seeker. I am actually trying to avoid TV as much as possible and the only major things are the Dr. Who Xmas Special this year, Dollhouse and BSG next year.
Games: Rock Band 2 is a must have once it comes out.
Music and books are just dead media to me now. I would rather discover something than know about it before hand. However, I always look forward to new Boom Boom Satellites albums even if they cost me an arm and leg to buy.
Oh yeah, I can’t believe I forgot it, I’m also excited as hell for the LHC Commissioning with beam planned for September 10th! I’m a geek, but I’m proud of it!
P.S. LHC is the Large Hadron Collider

JimK: Just a quick question; What’s coming soon for you? What TV show, movie, book, game, album, etc. are you looking forward to next?
I’m really curious about Metallica’s new album. Rumor has it that they’re back to a sound that parks squarely between And Justice and the Black Album. I may have found a leaked copy and I may listen to it at the gym today, even though that’s terribly illegal or something. I’m WAY behind video game-wise, and getting a Kindle has turned every spare moment into a moment I can read a few lines here and there. BUT…Mercenaries 2 looks awesome, and I would like to get near a copy of Too Human just to see what’s up.
Movie-wise, it’s a dead zone for me in the next few months after the glut of stuff I loved this summer. I’m looking forward to Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla (I’m just a fan of his style, even though I know it’s not A-level filmmaking) and Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies. I am half-anticipating and half-fearing the release of Punisher: War Zone. City of Ember looks like it has the potential to be a sleepy little sneak-up-on-you film that achieves a certain cultish level of status. And I’m obviously going to have to “find” a copy of Fanboys, as they will never release it in theaters around here.
Books? Yes, they are so totally on my radar now more than ever. Neal Stephenson’s Anathem, obviously. King has a short story collection coming soon that has the potential to be a return to form for him called Just After Sunset. I’m also interested in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. I dig the whole crime thriller genre, and I would be interested to read a noir-esque version of the crime thriller from a non-American/British author, just to see what gets done with it. The fact that the heroine here is a computer geek is icing on the cake.
TV? The usual. The Shield (which started the final season with a bang), Battlestar, Heroes, How I Met Your Mother (which I think has only been improved by the addition of Sarah Chalke), Supernatural, Sarah Connor. I’m sure I’m missing something there. I cannot WAIT for new episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I think I love that show more than any other half-hour comedy *ever*. I’m gonna say it: I think Always Sunny is better than Arrested Development. THERE I SAID IT. I think they are better at absurdity and better at cringe humor and better at satire, and generally more funny. And I love Arrested! SO that tells you how much I *heart* Always Sunny. Sweet Dee FTW!
New stuff? Well obviously Fringe, even though I hate myself for it.
Also I’m compelled by fan-based mancrushiness and a deep passion for staring at Eliza Dushku to try desperately to get Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse to last beyond a single season, so…Dollhouse. I’ll be checking out Sons of Anarchy as I generally love everything FX does and Ron Perlman is in some if not all of that. Beyond that I am not getting my hopes up, because everything I like gets canceled.
