We lost our big dummy today.  Kidney failure.  This is our favorite pic of him…I once LOLcat’d it:

Best LOLcat ever.  That may not be an objective opinion…

Rest in peace, Gus.  You fought well, and I will forever be grateful for the way you took care of your mommy during the bad times when I wasn’t there or she didn’t want to wake me.  I only hope we did as well by you as you did by us.

Sorry to hear that JimK, he was a cute cat. As a lifelong pet owner myself, I feel for ya. Take care and keep those pictures handy, because it’s nice to remember those guys through pictures from time to time.

Sorry to hear that jim.  Losing pets does suck, but I’m sure he was a very happy and content cat living with you and Donna.  My dog died back in 2002, and I still do miss him despite my family having other dogs since then.

I haven’t gotten another dog due to school and living in places I can’t have pets.  That last part is now fixed and I just need to find a dog I like that will work in an apartment.  I don’t know what your thinking is on getting another pet after you lose one, but I do believe that they are never replaced, you just find another place for the new one.

I also understand the loss of a pet.  i was never a cat guy, but my wife had to have one, so we got one.  It knew I wasn’t a cat person and took every opportunity to try and cuddle up with me.  The last few years of her life, she was my game companion, sitting in my lap while I played Grand Theft Auto, never moving, just purring.  She died in my lap one night while playing, and I never play that game anymore.  Seems like you had a good cat.  As long as you have pictures and memories, he’ll always be with you.

Damn Jim, Donna, I’m so sorry.  I grew up with cats and I know how hard it can be when they’re gone.

Sorry for the loss.

I just had a scare myself with my dog: she was limping a lot when I came home one night last week and I felt a lump under her front leg… flashback to our family dog that had lymphosarcoma a few years back (after I’d moved out).  She had it horribly though.. every node and it was like she had tennis balls in her throat they’d swelled up so fast.

Anyway, took my dog to the vet.. turned out to just be a bad bruise (which made me recall her jumping off a high-ish wall while walking the day before) and the lump is just a fatty lipoma.  Few days later the limp was gone and she’s back to super playful and wanting to walk twice a day again.  Dog’s about 7-1/2 (not sure, got her around 1 year from the humane society) and still acts like a puppy most of the time.

I know when she finally does go, it’s gonna be hard to get over.
