I got the Director’s Cut version for Christmas and I really want to watch the commentary track on it. RDJ does the whole thing in character, including switching to Kirk when Osiris does in the movie, and then back to himself at the end. Everyone who’s seen it says it’s WAAAAY funnier than the movie itself. MUST FIND TIME TO WATCH!
I picked up the director’s cut as well. How much different is it from the original movie? And I also think I’ll need to listen to the commentary.

DonnaK: First off, some brand spanking new Iron Man 2 news. It’s been rumored for a while that Mickey Rourke will be one of the villains in IM 2, and ReelzChannel has finally confirmed it:
LOVING THIS!!!! Rourke is clearly on a roll, especially after his HUGE win at the Golden Globes for his turn in The Wrestler, so this is nothing but good for the IM franchise. In other refreshing news, Paul Bettany has confirmed he will also return as the voice of Jarvis. With the addition of Don Cheadle to the cast I think this is shaping up to be one HELL of a movie.
BUT… that’s not all! A while back Dreamworks started one hell of a campaign to get RDJ a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his turn in Tropic Thunder. Actually… that’s not technically accurate. Dreamworks isn’t promoting RDJ for the Academy’s Consideration… they’re promoting Kirk Lazarus. You know, the dude playing a dude disguised as another dude. Check out Slash Flim page of promo posters and For Your Consideration ads. Completely hysterical and I think the best possible way to get RDJ a nomination.
But that’s not all on the Tropic Thunder front! A video from the Rain of Madness series has just surfaced on my radar, and I swear to you it’s the funniest damn video I’ve seen in a LOOONG time. It’s an interview with RDJ as Osiris, in which the good Lieutenant has just found out his precious mother has passed away, on her birthday no less. “Director” Damien shows up and madness ensues. I’ve tried to capture the clip below, but it doesn’t seem to be working on Firefox 3.0. If you can’t see the clip go here and just watch it. You’ll thank me, I promise.
Okay, enough RDJ for now, but I reserve the right to open another post where I can rant for hours about the insane RDJ fangirls who are screaming about how unfair it was that RDJ didn’t win a GG, that Heath won the award, that Heath didn’t do anything special or good enough to win, that RDJ’s role was more complicated than Heath’s, or that RDJ was pissed off that he didn’t win. Can you tell that I’ve had it up to here with these idiot girls? *grrrrrrr*
