That. Was. Awesome.

NBC is dead to me, only one show I watch on that network. Heroes, becuase really it can’t get worse. At this point I watch to see what will happen, kind of like watching Lost as this point.

Posts like this give me fond memories and remind me of why I’m your friend in the first place. I will never forget how you put the smackdown on that security guard in ‘97.

Oh now that requires an explanation.

I gotta disagree with you here, bro.  Not that I’m a big Leno fan, but I think NBC’s decision makes sense.  Leno leads the ratings in his time slot, it’ll keep him from jumping to another network, it’ll save money, and NBC’s programming and ratings suck now anyway.  It makes perfect sense from their perspective.  And it is risk-taking; it’s never been done like this before.

You seem overly worked up given the myriad other entertainment options out there.  Just watch something else.  Are you really that angry about it?  It feels like you’re just hamming it up.

And I gotta disagree with you here, Joe. This has nothing really to do with liking Leno. It has to do with the decision to screw viewers out of the possibility of new and interesting adult-ish dramas in the 10 PM time-slot. As pointed out in the article, that time slot has some pretty great shows in it now and has had some fantastic ones in the past. Now we have to give up the chance to have five new dramas a week to listen so we can listen to Leno’s tired-ass routine over and over and over again? Okay, I lied, it *is* a bit about liking Leno, because I sure as hell don’t like him enough to have him and his ten year old routine steal five shows a week away from me. It’s a bullshit call by NBC that basically tells all us viewers that enjoy solid programming to go screw. And I say fuck NBC for that. And I haven’t even gotten into how this screws Conan or the concept of The Tonight Show or the utter and complete BULL SHIT that the failure of My Own Worst Enemy - which was a pretty damn good show IMNSHO - was the catalyst for this decision. So, yeah… fuck NBC sideways for this one.

The fact that you think Jim is hamming anything up shows that you haven’t been paying much attention to Jim and how he expresses himself. Believe me… this is a *calm* reaction. We’re both well and truly pissed about this one. And frankly I’m surprised you would think anything else. But hey, what the fuck do I know, right? I’m only married to the man after all.

That clear things up a bit?

Then I still think it’s an overreaction.  “Well and truly pissed”?  Frankly, if it saves me from Bionic Woman, Knight Rider, and Law and Order: AEIOU, I might consider it a blessing.

I look at it pragmatically: there’s a finite amount of talent in Hollywood.  NBC is helping to concentrate it by getting rid of a few time slots.  That should get rid of the weaker talent and concentrate the better talent.  Some show somewhere is going to get better, or some new show will be created elsewhere.

And as you pointed out, NBC has nothing in that timeslot anyway.  MOWE is gone (rightly or wrongly).  ER is gone.  Dateline NBC is expendable.  Tuesday’s a friggin’ reality show.  Wednesday is L&O;, which is movable and/or has had a good run.  NBC has lost half its audience in the 10pm time slot over the past three years.  TV is changing.  Networks have to change with it.  Getting angry at NBC for it is like getting angry at your computer for crashing.
